ADHD Medication
Our GP practice follows NHS guidelines for ADHD medications.
- Starting Medication: A specialist (such as a psychiatrist) can diagnose ADHD and start the medication.
- Prescriptions: We can only prescribe ADHD medication if you have been stable on the medicines for 3 months already and we have a signed Shared Care Agreement with the specialist.
- Regular Check-Ups: Patients must have check-ups to monitor health (e.g., blood pressure, weight). If these are missed, we may pause prescriptions.
- Controlled Drugs: ADHD medications are strictly controlled. We can only issue 30 days’ supply at a time. Lost prescriptions may not be replaced.
- Changes to Medication: Only a specialist can change the dose or type of medication.
- Requests & Renewals: Please request repeat prescriptions at least 5 working days in advance.
