Housing Support
We know that housing issues, such as damp, overcrowding, needing to leave your home, or being at risk of homelessness, can have a big impact on your health and wellbeing.
While GP practices are not able to provide housing or make housing decisions, we can still support you in several important ways.
What we can do:
- Provide a clinical summary and help you access your own health records.
- Signpost you to housing support. Housing services are provided by your local council, not the GP practice.
- Support your health needs if you’re homeless. You can register with us even if you do not have ID, a fixed address, or proof of residence.
- Support your ongoing medical needs and refer you to other services if needed.
What we cannot do:
- We cannot get you moved to a new home.
- We cannot make decisions about housing priority or emergency accommodation.
- We cannot contact the council on your behalf to request housing.
- We cannot influence the outcome of the council’s housing assessment.
- We cannot provide doctors letters about housing: More information about why we do not proved Housing Letters
